Girls Trip 2011

The weekend before Mother’s Day, I took a trip.  I went away for the weekend.  8 mommies got away to a cabin in the woods and did whatever we wanted and had very little responsibilities.  It was wonderful!  I took my computer with me to jot notes about what was going on.  I had a quirky, interesting, “don’t forget these moments” draft started in my Live Writer.

Then, my computer crashed.

So, now all you get is a picture recap.  You can thank me later.

There were some really funny things said and done that I can’t remember now.  Maybe it was God saying “don’t embarrass yourself or your friends, Amanda!”

Okay.  Got it.  On to the pictures. (and some commentary)

Gina and I decided to try a Throwdown. Do you know that show?  We watched it before we got rid of cable over two years ago, so it’s kinda old now I guess.  I think it’s still on.

We made Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies.  This all started after one of her blog posts where she mentioned a yummy dessert she had somewhere, which led her to start a mission –Find the Best Chocolate Cake in Columbus.  It’s a good mission to have.  I said I loved the Bob Evans chocolate peanut butter brownie dessert, so she, being the Iron Chef that she is *seriously, go look through her iron chef posts.  It’s amazing what she can pull out of her brain!!*, said, “let’s have a peanut butter brownie throwdown!”  I love her.

Unbeknownst to the other, we each tried brand new recipes for the throwdown.  Mine had a brownie base with peanut butter cookie dolloped on top.  Gina’s was more fudgy and had a ganache and crumbled peanut butter cups on it. You couldn’t go wrong with either.  Oh, and in case you’re interested, hers won (by one vote).  And in case you’re interested in the recipes, I can’t give them to you.  Hers came from her head and mine got lost in the crash.  I’ll never be able to recreate them again. Sad smile

On a completely unrelated note, go check out this quick post from Gina.  It made me laugh out loud and love her all the more.

One of the ladies always brings bags for us as a gift.  This year she decided that we should all bring something little to put in the bag.  With 8 ladies total, we ended up with a lot of goodies in our goodie bags!

Some of my favorites were the candy.  I’m a sucker for sugar!!

We had a wonderful time relaxing, reading, chatting, playing games, and sitting in the hot tub.  It was everything a mommy doesn’t get to do in her everyday life.  It was wonderful!

Until next year, Gina, Jen, Joy, Jill, Heather, (me), Erica, and Nicole!

  1. Oh how fun. I've always wanted to do something like this and just haven't had the time to plan it. Now that my girls are graduated.. I think it's about time :-)
