What’s Been Going On?

Well, here’s a picture (or 11) of what’s keeping me away from the computer these past few days.  And it’s also what’s going to keep me away for the next few days.  Maybe weeks.  Who knows how long this will take….

This is my living room furniture.  All in one big ‘pile’.

We’re Rick’s pulling up all our carpet to put down new hard wood laminate flooring.

We’re putting the same flooring all throughout our first floor, which means the kitchen will be next.  While the floors are up in the kitchen, I’ll be painting the walls.

Yellow.  One of these yellows.  (the colors are crappy in the picture)

Oh, and maybe one day painting those cabinets a nice creamy white color. Maybe.

While we’re in a state of mid-construction, Jack is forced to wear his new boots.  He LOVES his boots, so that isn’t a hardship.

While the sub floor is showing, I decided to write out some scriptures.  We’re supposed to stand on the word of the Lord, right?

Now, everyone who ever walks on our floors, and anyone who ever owns this house will be standing on a firm foundation.

Jack wants to help with EVERY step.  He’s a pretty good helper too.  Rick is *mostly* patient with him., too.

PB220091

He was the first one to walk on the new floor.

He even got to help pound in the boards.  What a good helper!

Someday, hopefully before Christmas, I’ll show you our AFTER pictures.  I can’t wait!

Yes, we’ll have mismatched woods in our home.  I can live with that!

Foto Friday–Together

Photobucket

Whenever these two are together, it makes my heart melt.  That little boy loves his daddy more than anything in the world, and the feeling is mutual.  Daddy is quite the softy when it comes to that little boy.

I love to see them together.

Yard Work

My husband has been working out in the yard almost every day since the weather has turned nice.  He loves getting his hands dirty and working outside.  This year, he has a helper!  Jack absolutely loves being outside.  Especially when his daddy is working in the yard.  He has become quite the little helper.

Here he is making sure Daddy is doing it right.  He’s like a mini contractor…

But he likes to get involved as much as he can and get his hands dirty too…

Another day he decided to be a self-starter.  He decided the soil needed hammered.  Doesn’t it always?

I’d like to mention that he has eaten pollen.  Is that okay?  He sticks his fingers in the flower, then in his mouth.  He doesn’t seem to mind the taste, but his Mommy yelling, “NO, NO JACK!” is getting on his nerves.

The best part about having a little helper are the impromptu hugs you get while you’re working.  Life doesn’t get much better than this!

I do love Springtime!

Don't go, Daddy!!!

We all know how babies love their Mamas. Mine certainly can't survive with out me. When he's tired or hungry, he only has eyes for me. This can make a mom feel really good, but it can also be very tiring. Hubby really wants to help, but Jack calls the shots, and when he wants Mama, he wants Mama!
Bright and early this morning, while Jack and I were sitting in the glider in his nursery-me hoping he was going to go back to sleep and him chomping happily on a teething ring-Daddy came in to say goodbye to his family. He kisses me goodbye, and, after seeing the squeals of delight upon his entry to the room, he picks up Jack and hugs and kisses him goodbye.
What happened next broke both of our hearts. Melted them anyway.
When Hubby put him back in my lap, he cried. He didn't just wail, he started out with a tiny whimper. It was like he was saying "you aren't going away, are you, Daddy?" As he watched his daddy leave the room, he started into a real cry. When Daddy came back in, because who can leave when their baby is looking at them with a "don't leave, Daddy!" look, he settled right down. He even squealed and kicked his legs when he was in his daddy's arms again.
I know it broke Daddy's heart to leave his baby boy today. He never likes to leave, but this made it extra hard I'm sure.
This boy loves his daddy!

We're coming up to the start of baby-proofing the house. It seems that Jack is starting to roll with a purpose. He can also get to what he wants, or at least closer to what he wants, by using his face in a sort of army-crawl. We caught him rocking back and forth while sitting on his bottom and leaning on his hands. I've heard that's a precursor to crawling. Our days are numbered!
